Yoga Sutra Vicar
The word vicar means deliberation. This course is a very detailed study of the Yoga Sutras where the students will be taken through a sutra-by-sutra discussion of the book with some insights from various commentaries of yogic preceptors of the past and the present. The Yoga Sutras are 196 sutras or aphorisms compiled by the great sage Patanjali prior to 400 CE and are said to form the foundation of the classical yoga philosophy. Divided into 4 padas or chapters, Patanjali presents what is perhaps the most illuminating understanding of the mind, its conditioning, how to systematically detox the mind and observe the real self. What remained as a secret hidden in the caves of the mystical mountains of the Himalayas, is now being presented by Govardhan School of Yoga for every sincere seeker. This systematically designed course will not only help yoga practitioners to internalize some of the esoteric yogic concepts from the sacred texts, but will also be a great tool for all yoga teachers in their own courses.
